The Gauteng Student Nurse Intake 2021/2022
Every year, the Gauteng Department of Health offer qualifying student the opportunity to study for a nursing diploma at selected colleges.
Unfortunately, the application closing date for the student nurse intake 2022 has already passed.
In preparation for the next intake application opening, below is a guideline of what's required and how you can secure a spot at the below colleges.

There are a couple of things to consider before sending your application to the Gauteng College of Nursing.
You must meet the following minimum application requirements for your application to be considered and processed for enrollment.
- A South African citizen residing in Gauteng Province with proof of residential address;
- Must have a Senior Certificate (standard 10), a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12), or National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4;
- Must have studied these subjects: English HG D or SG C, Biology HG D or SG C, Mathematics HG D or SG C and lastly M score of 17, National Senior Certificate: English Level 4, Life Sciences Level 4, Mathematics Level 4 or Maths Literacy Level 5, and an APS of 27 or more Life Orientation counts half the score);
You'll be competing among thousands of other potential students with different achievements so always aim for higher grades in all your subjects.

Competencies And Attributes
The competencies and attributes that are required from applicants are the ability to solve problems and be patient.
Qualifying students must be able to relate to people because they will be working with people as nurses.
Applicants must have organisational ability and flexibility. They must be able to manage calmness during the time of crisis and be good at communicating.
A numeracy and life skills are also needed and study skills and computer literacy.
Applicants must be honest, compassionate, and caring.
Further Notes to The Application Process
Once shortlisted for the enrollment of the nursing diploma course, applications will undergo a compulsory psychometric assessment.
Applicants that are successful on the psychometric assessments will be required to undergo medical surveillance. This will include a physical examination and verification of all documents.
How to Apply for the Nusing Intake?
First, visit www.nursingintake.gauteng.gov.za and register your personal profile.
All applications are done online, no hand delivery or email submissions will be accepted.
Applications must be done on the GPG Professional Job Centre system before or on the specified closing date; NO late applications will be accepted.
Complete the online application form and wait for the response from the department about the status of your application.
You'll be required to scan and upload all the documents online.
Completion of all processes during the recruitment and selection process does not guarantee final selection for the programme.
Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement with the Gauteng Department of Health and attend lectures on campus. They must be prepared to participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL). which means that they will be taking shifts and working on public holidays, weekends, and nights in the Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics. That is part of the programme requirements.
